New FPS type of project - Programmers Needed
Hi everyone!
I am new to Irrlicht community. Before i've used to work with TrueVision3D engine, but there are a lot of drawbacks of the engine, so I started looking at alternatives, and Irrchlicht looks like a great engine.
Me and my friend came up with an interesting concept for an FPS game (similar to Operation Flashpoint) but with some RPG elements. The game will feature open scenery, completely multiplayer, all free to download and play. The world will be 10x10 kms (6x6 miles).
There will be hundreds of weapons, drivable vehicles and flyable things (helicopters etc). The gameplay will be similar to S.T.A.L.K.E.R - but a bit more action oriented. There will also be different items, which you can buy at respawn or find on the map.
We have people who can design all the models, textures etc., but we need a programmer. We need a programmer, or a team of people to work on the programming side of the project. The time-frame for development 7-10 months.
We are willing to pay money to whoever is willing to work on the project (only senior developers please). We need people (one 1 programmer) who can dedicated enough time to meet the deadlines.

Ok, I'll bite. I probably won't be interested in this project, but there's a slim chance. However, most people who say they're ready to pay have no idea what's even sensible. But, most even don't want to spend a cent. So, tell me/us what's your idea of a pay for a senior coder who can code you a full fps in 7-10 months. I'll give you a hint, it ain't under the 5 digits for the whole project. It ain't under the 2 digits per hour. And you have a fair chance (very good for that matter) of missing your timeline, unless your project is way more conservative than you make it sound.
But I'll be fair, show us, tell us, give us details, and it might just happen. Maybe.

I know it's 5 digit number I have a multimedia company of my own (mostly business promotion via internet, multimedia presentations and print), and i am teaming up with some people (business owners as well) to work on some common projects. This project, is an investment and just something on the side. We are planning to invest thousands of dollars towards this project. There will be a separate company opened that will take care of this project, there will be a contract between the developer(s) and the company.
We need a serious candidate to work on it. I need to know who is capable of dedicating their time towards the project, work samples and cost obviously.
Keep in mind that we are talking about reasonable $$ amounts, but reasonable for the developer and us.

Now, in regards to this, i used to work with a different 3D engine and i am aware of what's involved. I used to be a programmer / 3D designer myself.Dorth wrote:Ok, I'll bite. Chaps, if you have questions to ask regarding terms, then it would be best to contact bathellfire directly. Don't blow your competitive advantage.
Please upload candidate patches to the tracker.

There will not be much of AI in the game. We need a programmer to complete the whole task. Physics will be pretty basic (at least at the begining). The game will feature Server and a Client side...sp00n wrote:1)AI, engine side, physics, shaders, smthng else? 2) Do you plan to rent a programmer for the full-time working day(8 hours by day)?
We need a programmer on full-time basis.

1 man to do all the programming? he should be really senior. and multi talented. Why not recruiting few chaps and give them smaller tasks? UI, AI, Tools, Game mechanics, scripting engine, level design... im not senior enough to know all there is to do on one FPS. Is there anyone here that knows all the programming positions, all the job that needs to be done for one FPS game?
