[no bug] openGL paints black in medium distances (xubuntu)

When I run the example 2 of the irrlicht engine with openGL, everything in medium distance is painted black (in the room the example starts)

Looks like a mipmap problem. Maybe update the driver, or we need to avoid automatic mipmap generation in this driver. I'll move it to bug forum for testing.

I had exactly the same problem using Ubuntu 9.10.
(ATI Technologies Inc Radeon RV250 If [Radeon 9000]).

Don't know how to solve it for Xubuntu, i fixed it by installing Debian.

same here, I also have 9.10. maybe a bugreport for the ubuntus?

Ive got the same card on my Eee, and I decided to give up trying to use Irrlicht on it. Here's the most important peice of info about it:

you would have to switch into full Mesa software rendering to get things to look right, which would be incredibly slow (I got 1fps in the perpixellighting example on my Eee)

Having support for OpenGL 1.4 would be enough for these examples, though. So it might be slow, but should work.
