Can I program Irrlicht using C# on Windows and run on Linux

I know that Irrlicht can be programmed in C# and there is a project called Mono that allows a .net project to be executed on Linux. Would it work, if I develop a project under Windows and run it under Linux?

Sorry, I have just seen that there is a new branch called Irrlicht .NET CP, I will go there instead.
