Ubuntu is slowly abandoning X interface. will this cause problems for irrlicht to run on ubuntu since irrlicht is running on top of X?

Never heard about it before. But as it seems there's a compatibility layer. And for native support we'd need a new device, which would use the ogl-es driver directly. Something which we can start after Irrlicht 1.8, probably not too much work.

This got announced just last week. But afaik Wayland is still heavy in development and this will take at least a year until Ubuntu will use it.

Wow, this is getting traction fast. It seems Fedora plans to follow: http://blogs.computerworld.com/17351/fe ... or_wayland

LOL i still remember those who hate Ubuntu wrote comment and asked everybody to switch to Fedora. This seems like a big disappointment to them.
