Misplaced Normals?

Post by ACE247 »

Ok so I've got this neat mi28 Helicopter in 3ds max, exported with Pandasoft X Exporter then loaded them into IrrEdit and did some animations on the rotors etc and saved it. But when I then open up the .irr file for a quick check with Meshviewer, all the normals are way above instead of on the chopper. Any explanations for this?

It's an error in the way they are drawn, as normals can only be direction and don't give position. Not sure why they're drawn incorrectly though

You saved it as .irrmesh, or as .x without animations?

Yeah, than that's the problem's cause. The bone position is not properly updated for the initial frame's calculation of the normal positions. So the bones and vertices are updated to their initial frame, but the normals are positioned at the vertices base position.
