Add New Forum To IRRLICHT_HELP Section Vote

Post by kklouzal »

Hello, I am motioning the idea to have a new forum created in the "Irrlicht Help" section.

The title would be "C++ Help"

Sometimes I have a question related to my project that uses Irrlicht but the issue does not directly involve Irrlicht.
A forum to post these kinds of questions would be beneficial for Irrlicht users.
It would keep things more organized.
There are other forums you can do this on as well, but we need to strengthen the community by eliminating the need to reach out to other sources.
It would increase website traffic for google adsense :)
People could spread their knowledge to help expand the minds of others and share ideas!

It will be interesting to see what the votes come in as!

Beginner help already says: "You may also post general programming questions here.". So just post there. And ignore all the people telling you to read a c++ book - which you still should do - you will still get useful answers most of the time :-)

I'm sorry I looked for something like that but didn't see it, either way it would be more organized if those things were in their own section to keep the Irrlicht topics strictly Irrlicht, don't you agree? :)

If we would set up a brand new forum I'd probably indeed prefer having an Irrlicht questions and c++ or general programmings questions forum instead of irrlicht beginner and advanced. But all in all it works that way, so I'm fine with the current layout.

Well to be honest making 3D games or other 3D software should in itself imply that you should be comfortable with the language as it is considered an advanced topic, on that matter... I have an idea(!) (You'll see what that idea is when it's done :D)

... Or we could just redirect everyone to cplusplus.com where I learned most of what I needed as a beginner.
It's kinda funny - often times a C++ question will be disguised as an irrlicht-related question merely because it uses irrlicht functions or datatypes. Hence, it's hard to tell users (especially noobs) how to distinguish between the two types of questions (C++ related versus Irrlicht-related) to begin with.
