Just for the fun of it:

Mandelbrot
Image
From a fractal program I'm working on. Each variation can generate its own points (rather than having to manipulate a random set of points) for more control over the final image. In this image, a single point was blurred (with a VERY wide blur) and the pixels were modified by your traditional mandelbrot formula. I had to write a simple complex number class for it to make the job easier. It runs slower than Gimp, but I'm designing it such that I can control the number of points drawn per frame and thus prevent the program from burning out my PC (yes, it's a few years old now - *sigh* How quickly technology becomes outdated).

I expect to be in last the moment someone else posts in this thread with a pic, but hey, I can say it's the first contest I entered. lol

For a better pic, I probably should have just posted a picture of UltraGUI, since I put WAY more work into it. But no one is really interested in a GUI picture. lol

LightningShots

LightningShots - a new Irrlicht Lime example.
User can shot balls of light which reacts with all nearby geometry by drawing lightnings to it.
p.s.: soon i will post video at "Post your Irrlicht gameplay video here" topic.

Those balls need some soft particle-ing.

Maybe. But i just tryed to implement an idea, its not optimized enough and i will not do it, to stay example simple and clean. For instance i draw only lines very fast (each lightning includes 10 lines) and i do draw them all in single call (all lines from all lightnings from all balls). But the balls and the billboards are creates on the fly as scene nodes (because its very simple in code).

P.S.: i would like to add some glowing stuff, but i'm not familiar with shaders at all :)

Having a glow shader over the Lightning branches would really make it better, nice work!

and that kind of reminds me of this scene from Portal:

...although it doesn't have sparks.

Not necessarily, Mel used to submit quite impressive images and he didn't win every month either.

True, but I was somewhat joking, good screenshots just raises the bar for everyone else (which isn't a bad thing)
Now I just gotta make a better screenshot (an engine test stands no chance, especially since it doesn't have anything fancy)

Although it doesn't show any fancy graphics I'll try another screenshot using Irrlicht and the Oculus Rift:

It's from my game "Sky of Verdun".
