BSP Map Makers

Post by kklouzal »

Hey guys so I've been doing a lot of research to find some good .BSP Map Makers and I'm coming up short. Does anyone know of any available?

Q: "What is the perfect map maker"
A: "Something that feels like Valve's Hammer Editor that works out of the box, not having game dependency's, and is able to use straight .jpg .png .tga etc.. type textures instead of custom .wad .vtf etc.."

I'll go ahead and keep updating this OP when new ones are mentioned so we have a good go-to list.

Thank you everyone for your time.

3D World Studio - http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_product&id=2100 - EXACTLY what we're looking for - Does NOT work on windows 8 :(
Map Scape - http://www.evolved-software.com/mapscape/mapscape - Remake of 3D World Studio using DBP - Can only export to .x
http://www.delgine.com/ - Easy setup, no game dependency's, supports basic texture formats, has issues on windows 8 :(
GETIC - http://www.getic.net/ - provided download is corrupted.
BSP Quake Editor - http://www.bspquakeeditor.com/ - Complicated setup, requires Quake or Half-Life, getting custom textures into the editor is very complicated.
GTKRadiant - http://icculus.org/gtkradiant - Complicated setup, requires Quake or Half-Life, getting custom textures into the editor is very complicated.

I use NetRadiant. It does not require Q3 or such, but you do need to define your own game so it can tell where you keep the textures etc. Custom textures is very easy, place textures under the dir you told it about, done.
