oh wow, that's pretty damn impressive - pretty sure we can already call the winner right here and now

Those crosswalks in the distance look pretty bad. Are they not textured?
Re: Screenshot of the Month, June 2016 [submissions open]
Sure, that's why textures were invented

Jeez! Very cool!
Is anti aliasing even used at all?

Since BAW based on Irrlicht (But extensively modified in the rendering parts). Is it still considered fully Irrlicht renders? Current Irrlicht don't have theses abilities...Rules
- Only irrlicht renders allowed,
Re: Screenshot of the Month, June 2016 [submissions open]
I downloaded BAW, but my machine and net connection just couldn't handle it!
The "Triangle-Based Geometry Reconstruction Anti Aliasing" is very, very advanced stuff.
It retains the geometric shape of the "Pedestrian Crossings" really well!
(almost like a human mind would try to keep the shapes intact at a very low resolution)
I think the coloring of the stripes (1,1,1) would look better if it was ( 0.8, 0.8, 0.8 ) or something with a sight natural tint
as to not create such a noticeable contrast.
It is clear to me that Build A World (BAW) sports technology not readily available to the man in the street.
Devsh, this is truly amazing stuff that the less than average coder like myself wouldn't recognize at first glance!
BAW is going places. Good Job!
It must have taken some SERIOUS geometric math for the renderer to know that the pixels
should be arranged in "that" manner to keep the lines visible at even such a distance.
I did not realize the amount of technology behind this image so I humbly pledge my guaranteed vote!
I suggest potential voters have a look at this before they vote..

Wow! Is this rendered with vanilla Irrlicht and shaders?! I really like the specular highlights in the scene.

I honestly don't know, they made their fork available iirc so on one hand it's still irrlicht in a way.christianclavet wrote:Since BAW based on Irrlicht (But extensively modified in the rendering parts). - Only irrlicht renders allowed,
On the other it's heavily modified and thus an unfair advantage.
BUT since the rules don't specify any time limit for the project, you could have worked on it for a decade or even longer, I'd say that it doesn't count as a negative - given sufficient time anyone can implement it (assuming consistent growth, which would be the case with consistent programming).
And since I host the compo I'll at least give my opinion - I don't think it's my place to make the decision however - I think it's allowed.
well, that's at least my general opinion - yours may vary and if you really want you can set up a poll to have users vote over modified/unmodified irrlicht builds being allowed [rendering, adding other modifications should not be even theoretically bannable imo]

@ christianclavet The render is like you said, Vanilla Irrlicht and Shaders..

Being banned from this competition would be the uttmost honoraaammmsterdddam wrote:I honestly don't know, they made their fork available iirc so on one hand it's still irrlicht in a way.christianclavet wrote:Since BAW based on Irrlicht (But extensively modified in the rendering parts). I also worked for years with modified Irrlicht's and so do many others on the forum. I think it's one of the biggest features of Irrlicht that the source is availabled and easy to read & change.
