just ran into some news that Some Xbox consoles need their power cords to get replaced. Microsoft is doing this for free.
just go to http://www.xbox.com , select your country, follow the "important notice" banner, and enter your s/n and manufacturing date (located underneath) and they'll determine if your console requires the change.
the new cable will arrive some days after that. I just got mine!!!
