Hello, I am here on behalf of PONIFICUS, http://www.ponificus.co.uk/, to ask about this engine. We are considering using this engine as the base for our game, Space Station 13.

SS13 will be a Mass Multiplayer Role Playing Game. It will be very dynamic; the walls can be taken down using a welder, and fires can burn through the floor.

I was wondering if this is the right engine to make this kind of game on, or are there other engines more suitable?

Please note that we are a fledgling company; we currently only have three proggramers working for us, including me. Our website is not finished, so please excuse any problems you have while trying to access certain parts of it.

hi,

i know my post might trigger a flamewar so i appologize in advance...

first of all,

Irrlicht is a great engine under a great license so you can always hack the code to add anything you want...

you can always patch on a network layer if you want to but if you are looking at a Massively Multiplayer Framework.. you might want to take a look at NEL at http://www.nevrax.org/tiki-index.php?page=NeL or ICE http://www.zeroc.com/ice.html for middleware

I think the best combo for you shall be to use a pure rendering engine like OGRE with a suitable MMO middleware and develop your world behavior code module in house

that is my $0.02
