nope, it's impossible. Each mesh must be separate and have its own texture. That's a drawback  no multitexturing is supported. It's Zdimitor's first recommendation.

I tried it on a similar machine, except for the video card qhich is an ASUS V9980 ( nVidia 5950 Ultra chipset ). I got only ~200 fps while with such a scene I would have expected 750+.

yup, we already discussed it with Zdimitor. It has to do with how 3dsmax renders to texture. It creates too many separate tga files whereas Giles only creates 1 for the whole scene. And it also has to do with merging geometry with the same material together. If you run the lmts version you'll see it's much faster because of how it handles lightmapping.

but that's the idea of this test drive, detect anommalies and try to correct and improve them.

thanx for trying it out!! :D

as soon as I get a faster version I'll post it up.

I found a way to speeds up loading time of .my3d scene:

In My3D Loader i disable mipmapping for creating lightmaps, so loading time speeds up from 50 to 25 secs (In OpenGL), but FPS the stays the same.

I update My3DTools and make new version 3.12 (with all patches), get it from
http://my3dproject.nm.ru

2Afecelis: Try it with new optimized MAX Laguito Scene.

Great news!!!!

In My3D Loader fixed great bug (memory leak in creating lightmaps) - thanks to niko for it.

I guess it was a reson of big memory consumption in test application of Afecelis.

Get freshest version of My3D Loader v.3.13 from here

With new version of test application my FPS changed from 15 to 150(OpenGL)!!! And loading time <10sec (was 50 sec)

Not bad a?

I've been poking around with the new version of My3D for a couple of days and I've been wondering, is there a way to get a mesh with a lightmap AND transparency/Opacity/Alpha map and/or Reflection map at the same time?

I got about 160fps on Laguito. Pentium 4 3Ghz w/Radeon 9800 Pro (128MB).

About 400fps for the mylmts.

I really like the Laguito one. Great modeling. I love the fence. :)
