Forum updates

Post by niko »

I've updated the forum with several changes, mainly to defend the massive spam bots which are currently likeing this forum a lot. The only change for users is that you'll have to watch the 'post new message' input mask for at least 5 seconds before pressing 'submit' or you'll get a preview instead of a new message. But I think that's no problem, you'll probably type 5 seconds anyway. :)

I'm still not getting topic reply notifications. I think someone mentioned this before.
You do a lot of programming? Really? I try to get some in, but the debugging keeps me pretty busy.

It is like it is. And because it is like it is, things are like they are.

No, I tried, he has lots of IPs. And because of that, I still think it is just a clever bot.

Also in Belgium. Every casual user has got a dynamic IP. You need to pay for a static IP and take one of the more expensive subscriptions.

Yup! It's posible to trace the spammer, even with the phpBB2! If the spammer is online atm you(The Admin) could check the IP by clicking the "IP" button on the post. This links you to an online tracer! There you could trace him and find his ISP-account!
Now you can ban him by the ISP-account (I guess :)) which is non-dynamic!

I vote for disabling guest. If you use the cookie, you don't even need to log in.... so guest posting is not so useful.
