lets ask our selves why do we need morph target animation
we need it to animate faces
so why not make a body of a .x mesh then attach an animated md2 head via bones
so we get the best of both animation types
morph target/ facial animation
because md2 have weird precission, they usually make the meat tremble. besides, often the sading it offers is not good...
But also, think about doing facial animation using tiny bones, it can be done, and results are quite realistic, plus advantage of bones keyframes.
yet though, is not bad to have vertex animation. I'd just wouldn't use md2 for something for detail shots...too near.
