I was up in the morning, wanting to visit CodeProject, I accidently typed "codeproject.net" insted of *.com. And there it was. My eyes started to burn from the stupidity i saw. How can anyone create such a stupid && usless site.
If i meet the web designer i'l kill him.

don't know what you mean. That sort of sites are automatically generated whenever the site doesn't exist. In other words, they have already reserved the name so until someone offers them some good $$$ for the domain they just put up the auto-site that probably displays info of one of their sponsors. Try it with other names that you make up and you'll get the same result.

just try "codeproject.org" and you'll see what I mean.

its second level marketing. people will snipe up alternates of domains that people own and hold them ransom for a big price point if someone else wants to sell them. they also will do it to domains that people forget to renew when they expire and become back into the purchasing public. and they are used for link farms to try to throw off google and such.

I tried purchasing one such domain that never actually had a site on it a couple years ago but it updated as available in the second level marketing's registrar's databse before it did in my registerar's databse

yeh, cyber squatters...

people will snap up misspellings and alternate TLD's of popular sites, then host worthless ads on ehtem to make money off people mistyping URL's

its one of the many sick, sick things you will see ALL THE TIME online...

Yes, those people that reserve domains like that royally p!$$ me off.
If you own a domain, place a transfer lock on it so no one else can steal it!

They did it to one of my mates sites when he closed the domain and posted the for sale notice on my home forum, www.airraidsirens.com. Yes Im unusual, so get used to it :P.

It's here: http://www.federalthunderbolt.org/, alas my nickname "Thunderbolt" because I am an absolute nut over this civil defence warning siren :D!!!!!!!!! Among others as well. The T-128 and T-135, the biggest beast currently made with a 135dBC at 100ft or 30m rating, and will knock the socks off anyone within a 5km radius!

I too would like to place a hollowpoint between those 'developers' eyes. Maybe we can fire up Irrlicht to make a game about it! :P
