I think it would be great to make a separate "small" release of the engine without all that stuff like binaries, precompiled examples, media etc. IMHO those who use Irrlicht for a long time (as for me, more than two years) don't need it, and downloading 13 MB takes a lot of time and is quite expensive (i have to connect through GPRS now...) :roll:

You want just the lib, include, and dll folders? Nothing more?
It should be easy enough for Niko to fill that request.
If it exists in the real world, it can be created in 3d

Sys specs:
AMD 3700+ 64 processor
1.0 gb ram
e-Geforce 6600 graphics 256 mb onboard ram

Yeah, but it costs time. Its not that it's just copying files, its also updating the webpage, uploading the files, writing readme's, and not at least: testing.
