opengl/directx

Post by gopakumator »

i was CS 1.6 today on a GeForce FX 5200. It was extremely laggy...
The framerate must have been well below 30...
Then i switched to OPENGL renderer, my fps became probably above 100!

Is opengl really that good? if so, y do ppl other than MS use DX?

Oh yea, and any help getting my DirectX to work better, or my video card, would be very much appreciated...

in general the nvidia cards do better at OpenGL than DirectX. in particular the FX series did rather horribly at DirectX

I love PNY cards. Very fine components so they tend to be a bit more expensive; good guarantees. I even got a 5900 ultra with lifetime warranty which I found to be amazing these days, ehehhehe

Also EVGA seems good. Follows similar build standards to PNY's.

Dont buy from TigerDirect. I had bad experiences with them. They dont send the right stuff, and its busted up anyway.

I agree. The same thing happened to me when I purchased a webcam from Tiger Direct.

How about XFX, is it good compared to EVGA and PNY...

I heard from a friends the PNY uses plastic parts compared to aluminum from EVGA
