Irrlicht 0.12 - "ESP was not properly saved"

Post by mik »

Hi

I get this error running the "Hello world" tutorial, I have .net 2002
ver 7.0.9500

"Run-Time Check Failure #0 - The value of ESP was not properly saved across a function call. This is usually a result of calling a function declared with one calling convention with a function pointer declared with a different calling convention"

Irrlicht 0.11 was working..

Hi
I have recompiled the Irrlicht source and now it's working.
Why I can't utilize the binary distribution anymore?

I have the same problem (.net 2003) when I tried to migrate or 0.11 to 0.12.

This is the code that is causing the problem. When I remove it, the error goes away.

Code: Select all

gui::IGUIStaticText* fpstext = level_gui->addStaticText(L" ", core::rect<s32>(10,10,100,25), false);
I also have a statement in the run loop that refreshes that text with the current framerate, but that does not cause the problem. Anyone find a way around this issue?

This is because your linking the program to an outdated library, it took me a while to figure out a fix, but just basically remove all references from your IDE to irrlicht 11 and move them all to irrlicht 12 directories...

delete any lib / dlls created before running and Clean and rebuild everything.

meh, I feel like an idiot. When I migrated my project, I forgot to replace the dll. Thanks for the help.

Yup it's the DLL I had this problem with a small side project and before even reading this remembered it was an old DLL.
