Any ideas on which loads are faster and why? I can use a lot of different formats from blender (don't think bsp is one of them) and would like to optimize loading as much as possible.

File formats?

Is there any advantage to various 3d model formats in terms of load and process times?
I notice the examples that use bsp seem to load (and run) a lot faster than the .x I am using for models.
Which formats are fastest and does anybody know of tools available to convert to them?

Anybody using 1.6 and devcpp?

I have been using devcpp with v1.6 for a while now based on the project setup that was used in the examples.
Now I need to move things around a bit and whenever I try to move or have the compiler save the executable in a different dir I get the following windows error when I try to run it ...

Downloaded the "proceduralTrees" archive from the last messages in this thread to check if it was still working. It really does! :D

yes, it shows coords and texture input added to the mesh I have no clue how you might apply that to the use of models (.x) created in an editor. But I suppose I will play around with it a bit.

hardware mapping hints crash my system. I do plan to add a graphics card soon and will try again after that. I suspect a lot of my issues have to do with the 'on board' graphics.

low far value effects

using a lower far value for the came helps fps a lot but it makes the skydome dissappear, is this intended? It doesn't show even when I move close to edge of map.

Thanks, looks interesting but like much of irrlicht virtually no documentation to give some clues on how to use it.

Just create a new SMeshBuffer and add it to the mesh, then populate this one instead of the original one.
Meshbuffers are not culled, so there's no performance gain in this place. Only due to better render pipeline usage.

Can somebody point me to an example of this I really dont get how to force ...

transparency problem

I know I had this working - maybe back when using 1.5.1, not sure when it changed because I was working on other things. The windows and other objects with have transparent parts are a separate model and for some reason now some of the parts that are not supposed to be transparent come up that way ...
