Need for a basic terrain tutorial please?

Post by bridgeco »

Hi,

I am just getting into Irrilcht, and am very impressed. However, i'm still at the stage where I need to see how everything is done by examples.

One of the main parts of my application will be a large terrain model. I have seen a number of screenshots of terrains, eg

but I can't find a complete example terrain tutorial/examle program. Is there anyone who has one to hand?

For your information, the program is a ship (conventional, not space) simulator for navigation and chartwork training, so not really a game, but same principles. It's currently in darkBasic, but I think a move to C++ will be beneficial. Here's a screen of the current (darkBasic) version:

Seems to become a nice game. About the tutorial: The terrain renderer in Irrlicht does not work 100% correctly yet, and is really slow, because LOD is disabled. That's because there is currently no tutorial, sorry.

OK, thanks.

I'll stay tuned for a completed terrain renderer.

Keep up the good work. :D
