New Wiki

Post by bitplane »

The old wiki has been dead for a few months, the domain has vanished and we don't seem to be able to get in touch with saigumi.

However, all is not lost!
I'm pleased to announce that we'll be starting 2007 with a nice new Wikipedia style MediaWiki kindly donated by Rambus. :)

Unfortunately, since we don't have a backup, we are going to have to trawl through the pages of the Internet archive and transfer as much as possible from the old wiki.
So next time you're bored (or feeling generous), please take the time to transfer some content over.

I know this is disheartening for all you guys who contributed to the old wiki, but please don't be put off, we really appriciate the work you all put in.. and I'll get some kind of backup strategy in place this time around, in case Rambus gets struck by lightening or something!

The new URL is-

http://www.g0dsoft.net/irrlicht

Thanks for the kind words bitplane,
I have set up daily off as well as on site backups and given bitplane phpmyadmin over the database- so at anytime he can steal it and plop it into a new wiki with out any involvement from me.

I hope everyone enjoys the wiki!

Up until a month ago it had been a long time since I took a close look at IrrLicht. One of the first things I noticed was the broken link to IrrForge (which is still a broken link if the person that can fix that is reading this). I was pleasantly surprised to find this thread a few minutes ago and took a look at the new Wiki. I would like to send out a thank you to the members of the IrrLicht community starting this back up.

Hey bitplane, this is getting zero exposure here (10 views in the last week, 4 probably me)

There has to be a better place to stick this so we can get the wiki up and rolling properly (maybe bug niko for a front page post :P)

Does the wiki have somekind of mission statement or 'what this wiki is for, and what its not for'?

Just wondering if it should/could be used to also be an index of some of the really great scene nodes/classes people have created and released to the community.
