OpenRecon.com: Internet Radio Show

Post by TheRLG »

I'll be working on a blog/radio show covering open-source, Linux, Windows, computers. music, and all sorts of interesting things.

I'm going to interview developers for the most part, but musicians, community members, and other "involved" people will be all part of the show.

The show will be two parts: a written introduction to the people we will interview, and then an audio-recording in the style of a radio show available in FLAC and Ogg Vorbis formats.

Feel free to contact me with ideas for show content and people to talk to. Thanks guys!

mp3's from audacity are gpl (I think).

you can use them for non-commercial that much I know.

if you're using the one audacity mentions.

I'm just curious are you going to follow through with this or is it going the route of your last project by the same name?

not to be rude.. not like some of your comments on my threads or how you stopped speaking to me all together one day in favor of some of the communities morons.

but seriously you going somewhere with this or is it just another one of your hobbies to be sluffed aside?

Eh, I guess it's all about how much you care about a project. The game by the same name... didn't really care about it very much, and honestly, instead of coding, I just went and played Ghost Recon, so there was really no reason to continue with it.

As for the comments and etc....WTF?

Anyway, this project is fun, and since I enjoy listening to LUGRadio(.org) as it is, I think it will work out. I've already got one or two developers to interview, I just now have to figure out what the hell geeks find funny so I can fill the rest of the time up.

Isn't this quite. Midnight's way of saying "I miss you friend. Why'd you leave me?

I would love to hear from Niko on tons of things, mainly his blog posts.

http://www.irrlicht3d.org/

You should ask him about the recent youtube incident with Viacom, hear his thoughts on indie, open source dev's and why companies are so afraid of them. Or something to that effect. What are his hopes with Irrlicht and the other Irr-brands now that he has quit his job.

yes that pretty much sums it up.

on the subject of what programmers find funny well I think programmers are just people like dog groomers and mailmen.

I wouldn't try to orient the jokes on programming the show will just put people to sleep.

on the niko interview subject I personally would like to know what niko plans for open source along the lines of irrklang and irredit.

In fact I'm still trying to figure out why irredit is closed source I can't see any use for it outside of irrlicht at least in present state.

I'm not and I don't think many people are interested in the rediculas viacom attack business which is a dead end conversation obviously.

If you wanted comedy you should have interviewed me.. somehow I don't think I'll be getting an invitation for it any time soon.

and you people wonder why I am the way I am.
most of these people are so sheltered that run away at the first curse word or devote more time to turning them into random numbered asterik sequences rather then focusing on the real issues.

I never wanted to push the limits as some have mentioned I just live my life without boundries unlike most of you and I know I'm a happier person because of it.

And his response:
niko wrote: sure, why not, would be fun. If you really want to hear me speaking, I guess my spoken english is even crappier than the written one :)
So before I set up him as a guest, I need to write an article on the website about Irrlicht or something he's involved in. Or just him in general. That why I could always use contributors...

I'm kinda suprised you're having a hard time with that.

I know there hasn't been any extreme news about irrlicht or niko lately but I think just in general what he does is interesting.

after all it's not every day you meet somebody that gives away a potentially million dollar set of software for free.

I think people just want to know who niko is and why he choses to do what he does... I'm personally interested in why he quit his job to work on irrlicht and how he intends to support himself.

I think some people are worried that irrlicht might become less then free in the near future.

maybe you could just focus on dispelling the myths title it "Niko the man behind the machine"

Well I'd really like to cover those fun details in the audio version. For an article, I just want to give an introduction into who the hell he is and what he's done and why he's worth talking to. That's not that hard, but lemme tell ya, your brain after midterm exams is pretty moooooshy so give me a few days to get it sorted out.

Actually, some of the members are calling for a Midnight interview, so I guess that will have to happen in the future. That way I'll get to write an article and highlight a few of the fun "flaming" (constructive criticism) moments.

A Truly 3D Developer: Niko Gebhardt

Post by TheRLG »

And, an introduction to Niko:
http://www.openrecon.com/2007/03/18/niko/

Please let me know of anything that needs to be changed/added/subtracted/multiplied, etc...

Also, just a note that we still need more contributors!!! If you'd like to write about developers/projects that you consider cool and worth hearing about, you can help us by writing little "intros" like that so we can talk about even more cool stuff. Don't worry, it will be edited so you don't have to be a god at writing (just fairly decent).
