irrDriver->getFPS()

Post by StuCollier »

HI

Im using a TNT2 + 1.8 Athlon and 3ghz p4 + FX 5600 cards (nvidia)

Using the irrDriver->getFPS(); it constistantly returns like 60-70 fps - although of an ATI card its like 200fps.

Is there a setting for the driver I am missing ?

Does this in Opengl settings only.....

Yes latest drivers. Its only OPENGL and it seems to max out at 70 fps. Its quite obvious that its way more than that.

DX8 and DX9 report correct FPS so its just OPENGL (1.2)

Sounds like you have Vertical Sync on. For nVidia cards, VSync for OpenGL can be turned off in the display control panel under the settings tab. Click Advanced, click the nVidia tab, click to OpenGL Settings, and in the Vertical Sync box select "Allways off". I don't know how non-nVidia users would turn it off though. :(

Does vertical sync reduce the frame rate to around 70fps then? That could be extremely useful as IIRC the human eye can only see around 60fps anyway.

Yes, enabling vsync will typically prevent your game from exceeding whatever the monitor refresh rate is.
