You discovered a bug in the engine, and you are sure that it is not a problem of your code? Just post it in here. Please read the bug posting guidelines first.
I don't know how it works on Intel Core2Duo, but on my AMD Athlon X2 (Dual Core) there are problems.
The problems are with synchronizing. This is a common problem, lots of programs don't work correct on my processor. The only way I know to solve the problem is to go to process manager -> right click on the process -> Set Affinity -> check the only of available processors.
I don't know how, but i think there's a way to set this up when the program starts. Or maybe there's way to work correct on 2 or more processors
diverging from Irrlicht for a minute, do you have all the Dual Core updates installed? (the multi-core Windows update, the AMD Processor driver, the entry in BOOT.INI, and the multi-core update from AMD)
I had that problems like that too at first with my X2. my XP installation is otherwise screwed up, and after I installed my X2 and began to install the updates it wouldnt even let me into Windows unless I had all of those properly installed (which was no easy feat, mind you, when the computer was rebooting 15 seconds after logon. it wouldnt work properly with just some of them, I had to get all 4 things installed). after that it's worked great and runs everything just fine
I'm running windows Vista on a Core 2 Duo 1.6Ghz processor. I haven't had any problems with the OS or any programs, except some that don't work on Vista, having nothing to do with the processor though. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Windows XP has problems with dual-core processors while Windows Vista corrects many of the issues. In short, Windows Vista is a much better operating system for dual-core processors so you won't have the same problems people on Windows XP are having.
