Hi guys!
I've never used Linux before, so I would like to know which version of Linux is the best for a beginner?
thanks in advance for any suggestions!

No, Yellow Dog is not new. But it became more popular recently due to PS3 support. It's the officially supported distribution. But it's not really first choice for user desktops.
I always recommend Suse, too. I just tried the latest 10.2 which seems to be really nice. The software install and online update tools are still a little slow, but all necessary stuff is available and works as expected. Ubuntu is another good choice, but I don't know the graphical administration tools (if they exist) so at least for me Suse is easier to maintain.
