i was thinking how beneficial it would be for niko especially but at least one of the Irrlicht team members to have a mac. not only would it allow them to test things out better on mac (giving better release support) but it would also allow niko to potentially convert IrrKlang (which is turning out pretty nicely) to mac. i would think they dont need a top of the line mac, just a lower end G4. prices are running around $350 - $450 US on eBay for these machines. im willing to donate $50 US to the cause. is this a good idea?
I guess it would be a good start to check if all things are working under OSX and fix the projects before releasing another SDK. And that's why we do not really have to know MacOS internals. And I guess a non-Intel Mac would also be good to check endian problems more thoroughly.
good idea, I like it.. or even better, someone just buy Niko a mac
in the meantime if there's any dirty pirates with a SSE3 CPU here, it is apparently possible to run osx in vmware. it never worked for me though
Personally for me it would be great to have a mac and play with Irrlicht on it, but I don't think I'd have the time to care for the mac port. I guess we need somebody taking care of this again, haven't heard anything from Etienne for a long time now
according to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSE3#CPUs_with_SSE3 anybody with one of those cpu's should have sse3. that would include me, i have a core 2 duo. so you're saying i should be able to get macOS x running in VMware? i thought macos only ran on signed hardware or something....
My irrlicht-based projects have gone underground for now, but if you want, check out my webcomic instead! http://brokenboomerang.net
