Free .NET

Irrlicht.Net is no longer developed or supported, Irrlicht.Net Cross Platform is a much more complete wrapper. Please ask your C# related questions on their forums first.

Here is where a free vb.net/c#.net compiler is: http://www.icsharpcode.net/OpenSource/SD/

I have used it to do some c# games.

Yup it is compatible with Irrlicht. There's actually no difference or any compatibility issues to talk about when using the Free express version of Visual Studio compared to using the paying professional versions. You can use any IDE if you want, including SharpDevelop or even Notepad, so long as you write .NET code you can use Irrlicht using .NET.

Still a long way on learning Irrlicht...
