... in perspective of kernel development. Anyway, his approach is excellent "CVS/SVN/<name your favorite SCM here> seems to suck so I'll write my own". :)

Distributed is the key word.

I've not tried git so far, so I can't tell about that. But Linus hit a note when he said that svn is even worse than using patch.

I've to work with my own irrlicht version and do have to update regularly the stuff in it which is changed in the official irrlicht version. And using svn is worse than using patch for something like that. svn is better than nothing, but you're losing the correlation between several changes which belong together. With patches you have that.

No he doesn't. He just calls them stupid because they disagree with him. People (usually from USA) doesn't get his sarcasm (wich is kinda poor, but I know it's sarcasm because I know how geek from Finland thinks). So Linus is often categorized as "arrogant bastard" because of that and the other finnish quality which is way how we say what we think.

If I think that your piece of code is poop, I probably say "Your code is piece of poop" instead of "Your code is not perfect". It's nothing personal, it's just the way how I would describe horribly written code. Somehow this upsets some developers. Idols judge Simon Cowell probably have some finnish relatives?

And no need to say my written english is POS, I know that already. ;)

EDIT:
This forum software is poop. It changed my S-word into poop.
