Shouldn't one end be pointier than the other? Well its a start on 3d modelling anyway...
The texturing looks pretty nice. You should bump map it.

Eggs have a rough, bumpy surface. Go grab one and look at it. Theres little bumps all over.

Just make a texture with those little bumps, it shouldn't be too hard, since Blender incorprates all the tools ya need.
