Hello,
I'm searching for an application witch converts two 2D pics to a 3D Model.
The result should be useful for irrlicht-engine.
Do you know somthing who provides this?
2 2D Pics to an 3D Model?
There are tools out there using 2 "bumpmaps" for both directions but you shouldn't expect any miracles.
Modelling programs like blender allow you to add a "background image" to your scenes. Add your picture there and then try to model it that way. It sounds hard but once you've got it, it's rather easy to use. There are tons of tutorials out there on how to do it using simple models (don't start with something like a car or so).

The closest thing to this I have seen uses lasers, but it works for 3d objects in the real world, like a 3d scanner. It costs over $2000, and also creates very detailed models, that you would have to take a long time to fix anyway. I think it would be better to model with a good background image like the above poster said.
Hi, been a while since I looked into this topic but there are options. Nothing I've seen that you could consider production-ready but still.
At simplest some modellers can extrude eg walls based from a bitmap representing a floor plan. This is nothing new and Imagine did it on Amiga many moons ago.
However in the world of academia there are serious efforts to create meshes from photos. You may find "image-based rendering" a more helpful string to Google, that'll turn up loads of info for you.

That might be something like what you're looking for.
Much easier to just model with a good background image, and Z-Brush for detail work.

I made a really really crappy one of those 7 years ago in VB. it's just 3d pixels and not even a mesh though.
why not make one? sounds like fun! or.. you could use a billboard

Some cinema industry tools can do such type of things.
Pixel Farm - PFTrack. It can take camera video and build depth masks for frames in this video. It can also build 3d path of your camera (based on changing in frames). Quite cool!
As for 3d scanning - there is low-cost solutions. Do googling for DAVID 3d scanner, all you need is small cheap laser (like pen laser) and some time. Software if free. Results are quite impressive too (for $100 solution)

Hmm, this could do what you want: clicky. Found that randomly today and remembered this thread.
