The Glade Small Hobby Game
The Glade Small Hobby Game
I am developing a hobby 3d Person RPG which is attempting to depict a classic RPG with all the traits found in the most common of RPG's. This hobby has been going for about 8- 10 hours and so far I have figured out some of the functionality. It will be worked out later in the Alpha Version in which I will utilize irredit to create the maps, towns and Npcs ( which do not talk, the interactive npcs will be coded in.);

Without wishing to incur the Wrath of Hybrid, I would urge you to be realistic about what you can expect to achieve.
I don't wish to discourage you, I'm just saying that you're taking on a huge task. Throwing some meshes on the screen (and having to ask for help with what is, frankly, trivial problems en route) is the smallest part of what you're trying to achieve.
As a constructive suggestion, how about joining the dev team for an existing open source RPG instead? There are approximately 4,615,387,745 of them on Sourceforge at the time of writing, so you shouldn't have trouble finding one that's close to your vision of an ideal RPG.

Well how about a small single player role playing game. With few npc's with few locations and more than few monsters. A hack'n'slash diablo style fpp or tpp and it rocks .
I think it's quite possible to be completed in quite short time. The most wonderful thing would be having graphics fully done by yourself or using some free & uncommon models to make it unique than other things.

Good luck anyway, it seems to be doing good for such early stages.

Well actually not doing any planning at all can be just as bad as planning to add in too much!Cardinal4 wrote:@rogerborg:

Nothing much to comment on right now, but good luck! Could look good.
That way you have nothing pushing you to get things done in a sensible time and the project just ends up going on and on for too long and can become boring with no direction to head in.
But as a hobby project it's probably a fair way to go about it!
The truth of the matter is its just for fun. I see something I want in my hobby SINGLE player rpg and go ok. And throw it in and LEARN in doing so. I am going to add a pet soon. Its just a little project for myself I just like fiddling with it and I will let people play it. I don't expect people to like it but if I get 1 download even if its by myself I will be happy.
And hack and slash is basically it ya

I agree, its a great learning experience.
Your project has inspired me a little too, and I feel like following suit and creating my own now (outside RB3D that is)
how about making a new challenge of it (for everyone else too):
Create a simple (but complete) 1-Player RPG using only freely available content, and the total play time must be longer than 2 hours (no set deadlines)
But whatever;
Good luck with yours!

Thanks for all the feedback, I am reading all of C++ for dummies and then getting onto thinking in C++ so I can make the game a lot better.
