Counting the cost

Post by ochensati »

Hello,
I am thinking of doing a little adventure game. I would like to have a simplified fighting system a lot like the old tekken games. Has anyone done a game like this? I would like to understand how deep I can get into this as RL is already being invaded by one shareware project...

I would like to also get this networks for team play. Can anyone suggest a networking library that doesnt require too much of a fight.

Thank you

Just to make sure before I get flamed... I am not asking for coding, just a list of considerations. I am making the game for my entertainment, and just would like to know what the steps are to get started on such a game.

Thank you

I've found raknet, http://www.rakkarsoft.com/, pretty good. It's free till you go commercial, with at that point you pay what you want.

Another vote for Raknet. It's mature, easy to use, and well featured.

Ok, I had looked at raknet a long time ago before other more boring shareware work came up. any suggestions for where to start in an action, fighting game? I just would like to start with a foundation instead of reinventing the whole thing.
