Repository ?

Post by StuCollier »

Any chance of getting a repository so people (who want to share) can deposit their additions to the Irrlicht engine ?

I see lots of code snippets here and there of extra scenenodes that people have written - but would help if the .CPP and .H could be just posted for download. ?

Would this also benefit NiKo - as he surly could include the best-of in future releases ?

And models, and tools...

my problem usually is I have no space to upload stuff..I make models, but I also have freebies tools non available on the net for making 2d/3d art, that u can come crazy and yet not find... Yet though, that'd eat loads of traffic..

euh forget that, crazy idea of mine.

There's nothing stopping someone setting up a project on Sourceforge for this purpose, if someone was willing to manage the additions then everyone could access it and download any exterior additions to the engine. You could then give CVS access to anyone who wants to contribute.

I think what is being discussed here is more of a code dump

i think people just wanna be able to upload code snippets someplace rather than write up a full TPIM and go through the submission process in this case. I can see the attraction of that. would be good to make it a website type thing where people can write a short description of whatever it is and upload it via a web form maybe. the sticking point here is, as always, hosting space.
anywho...

heh yeh well i have a semi-crappy code dump thinger now.
check out http://fmorg.sf.net and click on the "code dump" on the left side. you can upload .zip files to the site, which then show up in the code dump download manager. interface looks like crap, but it functions....have fun!!
