I'm thinking of getting a laptop for irrlicht development as my girlfriend's laptop just doesn't cut it. My FPS example from irrAI completely messed up the graphics card and the RPG example i'm working on runs at 1fps.
This would be because the laptop's quite old (not sure how old though) and has an onboard graphics card (therefore absolute rubbish!)
I've looked on the net for some deals on laptops and they all seem pretty expensive as i'm only looking to pay around £200 max.
Am i being unrealistic here? It seems that anything vaguely near my price range probably wouldn't run irrlicht anyway...
Anyone got any experience with this?

From my experience in this area, I definitely think you need to upgrade your girlfriend.

But for £200, I don't think you'll get a better laptop... The ones that actually do play games with 60+ Fps... are much more. ( I think laptops are way overpriced..especially gaming ones)

Actually, I almost bought it, I even run it in the store and saw that it's working right before I almost bought it.
It comes with many recommendations as I've checked with many peoples about that laptop.
You wont regret buying it.
Few notes:
1. The price is much more then what you said but it worths it.
2. I think it comes with Vista so maybe if you ask them to remove it they will lower the price by much..

An advice I got from a professional is that if I'm going to buy a new mobile "girlfriend" I should invest about twice that laptop's price.. - So I bought a Desktop instead at the same price with twice+ power
