The authour explain that inself there is only a "emergency behavoir" that makes adapt the body to not fall. So for if it find a wall it put his abdomen and legs in the correct position to suit this surface. (A little more complicate of course). if you see when wall falls it try to reacomodate.
It could be call ia althoug it is only one way to stay in foot.
besides it looks like prerendirng animation isn't it?.

Very good, animations are very spider like.
Can probably be used to program spider robots...eeeew the thought alone :)

Eww... That's pretty freaky... especially the last one

In the Ageia Physx examples (probably every physics engine) there's examples of spider like movements for objects but i guess they're not quite as good as this as they don't climb up walls and such.

Wow this is very convincing. I wonder if they can make bipeds and quadrupeds.
There is a topic over the newton forum that explain a little how it is put together

The end of the video is very dramatic, did the monster spider eat the little one?

Wow this is just AWESOME!

It's funny to see how disgusting/fascinating it can be, it is really realistic.. at the end I really freaked out when the giant spider came out of the wall and I felt really sad when the other little spider got crushed by the collapsing wall and died... awww

They look so real, I just can't even begin to realize what's the maths/physics behind that... stunning indeed.
