No Not Again Mr Spock! Damn Windows
I generally program on my linux (ubuntu) using code::blocks and I find it really awesome... The only problem is that I can't test DirectX stuff because linux doesn't support it, but I prefer OpenGL anyways
When I will finish my game project I'll probably just compile it on a windows XP machine too, doing so I will have windows and ubuntu availability for my game... don't know yet though, but I find that linux is really better and faster when it comes down to programming...
I remember on my old XP it took ages to load and set visual studio just to make an easy console application... on code::blocks I don't have these problem (though it works on windows too, so it depends on the IDE and not the OS

I don't want to start (continue?) flame arguments but linux gui are HORRIBLES!. The most "friendly" gui for PEOPLE (human beings) ara KDE which is horrible.
And this is not a "windows user" opinion is a Human-computer-interaction study opinion.
Read on every study of HCI and you will see that this GUI doesn't complain the most basic feautres to be manage for a user (human begins) not programer -developer.
And HCI stuides are based in hard sciences like math, physic, biology, etc and "soft" science like psicology, socioly and more. Their are serious not just a people which "follow the crowd" but crowd common sence!.
Computer and machine are made for our freedom and comoditie NOTHING MORE.They are for make us made the LESS WORK POSSIBLE. When someone thinks something else is wrong, is making from a "make my life easy" tool a "take a look at how I made this difficult just to show rest of you that I can do it in the diffcult way" whoa!!!
But going serious, this is not an anti-linux propaganda, in the other way, I wanted (and still want ) to pressent as grade-proyect a realy good linux gui that acomplish several basical and advanced HCI desings taking as point of start KDE. But teachers told me that this is too hard and take much time.
By the way KDE is farrrr heavier than xp or mac guis. and besides uglier:?.
(And yes, windows doesn't acomplish neither a lot of good desing interface patterns).
For ending a small story:
In my Uni we have linux fedora (yes, yes Debian rocks
, and fedora sucks). and Have virtual machines over fedora to run xp for some proyects.
The funny part is that using features from the linux SO directly, any program, browser, etc were going twice o 4 time slower than using windosws through the virtual machine!!!! Windows rocks even under interpretation!!!
.
Don't get mad, I'm not insulting anyone race
. right?
