Dreams of a far off future (warning huge post)

Post by Xenxe »

I want to tell you of my idea of a dream game one that takes a whole team of developers (im not making this now (refer to the title))(wow side comment within a side comment followed by a side comment strange) But i was thinking of making (not now!!!) a morpg that i was going to mix with a RTS.

Well the idea is just like any other orpg. create the typical dwarf human elf (other cretures) plop them in a giant chat room where you can kill monters and such gain levels etc...

But there are a few things i have thought of that is going to make this game special. Well first of all i am going to make a merchant system example:(your player can controll up to 3 merchants for hire you give them items then send them off to other towns to sell them to other players in that town, Trading posts: they are areas in the world that you can send and receive goods from merchants they cant be found in every major town in the game))this roughly puts the merchant system down oh yeah regular player merchants cannot be seen (have no model) they are just text data to avoid flooding the server.

Now the thing that make this a rts also: Kingdoms (i have decided to make 8 kingdoms each that is controlled by a human player yes i know this is crazy and there are all sorts of problems with this but i am addressing those problems on paper so if you have a problem post it and ill see if ive found a solution example(your post: what if the king of a kingdom is offline to long/quit game forever) (my post i have already thoght of that if the king is offline for 30 days the next ranking citizen of that kingdom will become king.)

The RTS part we all know what a good rts is forge alliance move your troops (npcs and player SEE NEXT PARAGRAPH FOR KING TO PLAYER MOVMENT) attack enimies destroy buildings oh yeah breakable buildings you can also capture the flag on the top of the castle to be ruler of that kingdom (you cannot be king of 2 kindoms this knigdom will merge with yours making 2 parts of 1 kindom)

King to player movment is when the king asks a player to move somwhere a box will appear telling the coords of where he wants you to go then there will be an ok auto or deny box ok closes the box and you need to go to the place if you do not get to that place whithin an hour the digital (invisible text data) messewnger does (the messenger moves as fast as a normal character ) then the king is notified. but if you click deny then a message is automaticaly sent to the king if you click auto than your guy starts automatically moving twards the target unnless you collide with an object or you move the character with the wasd or arrow or mouse or whatever im making movement for 1234

Kings merchants can be seen they are to trade with other kings for gold and supplies they have theyre own models and can be robbed on the road but kings may assing gaurds to the cart to protect it limit to gaurds is like 20 or so

kings may place bulding sites wich in terms for an rts is slow but for an orpg is normal say you place a barracks its gonna take a real world week to build

rebbelions is another idea of mine where you have a group of people and you set up tents and build a rebbellion so you may take out the evil dictator your self

sea war is somthing i have been considiring but i dont have any details on that pirates included in that theyre sorta gonna work like the rebbelions

questions comments are enjoyed please comment.......

I stopped reading halfway but I'm pretty sure Perfect World has a similar "kingdom" system and there's another MMORPG I played that has 3 kingdoms with the "champion" of the current kingdom in charge of everything etc etc etc

and the merchant system is in every mmorpg I've ever played...

not quite original

Your concept/design is almost incomprehensible. Congratulations, you can skip that class in Designer School.

Whatt!!! i thought of all this stuff myself i was doing somthing different than WOW because everyones playing WOW and if i did somthing different it would be awsome as long as it was good but the merchant system i have never seen in any game ive played and can you rob the kings caravan? hmmm yes you listed multiple games that had parts of my idea but what if it was all together because there are some games focusing on pirates

the only idea i didnt think of myself was the balance and checks wich was made by D&D but im adding allot more stuff to it

Google how to write a game design.

I'd start with this presentation, and then read some of the others as well.
