Win32 Irrlicht Device

I was looking at the Window Procedure for the win32 device and saw a function that seemingly finds which device the HWND comes from. I followed it's origins as far as I could to a class named Iterator, looked at it but was completely confused about what it does.

I was just wondering.. If anyone could tell me how this works?
