The Robomaniac 3D Engine Foundation Contest 1

Post by Robomaniac »

Summer Relaxation 2004
Sponsored by "The Robomaniac 3D Engine Foundation"

The Robomaniac 3D Engine Foundation for Bettering the Experience, Look, Feel, and Coding Style of the Community and Individuals who use 3d engines (TR3EFBELFCSCI3E) is proud to announce the second Irrlicht Development Contest.

GOAL:
Create the best looking tech demo.

THEME:
The Demo must be themed around summer relaxation 2004: what your doing, what you want to do, or anything summer related.

SUMMER RELAXATION 2004

RULES:
All entries must be submitted by June 30. That gives you 2 weeks everyone, get working.

Anyone can enter, including Niko if he wants , but only 1 entry per team.

A team can consist of 1 programmer and up to two artists. If you are an artitst on one team, you can't be an artist on another, but you can be a programmer.

Demo's will be judged on many principles, including look, effects used, and extras. Although I will be judging including extras (like physics, sound) they are not required. If a demo has a fair look, but uses a lot of extras, and one looks great but has less extras, I will judge the latter higher.

It doesn't matter how you do things to get there. You could you the stock water effect, or you could create your own, it doesn't matter.

The water won't be as important as the other effects. Since Irrlicht comes with a fair water effect already prepackaged in the engine, it won't be as important as the other effects you create to go with the water.

Demo's must be able to run on a GeForce4 GO!

Could be Windows or Linux.

HOSTING:
Hosting for submissions will be available soon.

PRIZES:

A Pond Tech demo... nice. How about adding one more step and make it a "Summer Relaxing 2004" Tech Demo?

I believe I can get a site for hosting that allows people to upload going fast again and will also put 1 year of webhosting *edit* in the prize barrel. *edit*

Another Thing:

You can use free models/maps as long as redistribution does not break any of the authors copyright rules. If you do use free resources, you need to include a simple .txt file with credit given to the authors/site

Cleaned it up a bit.

YOU NEED TO SUBMIT YOUR SOURCE!

What is a tech demo good for if you can't "borrow" the code ;)

Good Luck:)

It was either that joke or:

"I've done my share to increase global warming, it should be summer south of the equator right now and super-hot in 1/2 a year."
