[DEMO] RPG demo

Post by hubadu »

This technical demo is my first project released, it's a personal project I've made alone during July and August 2008. I've used Irrlicht and IrrKlang for my engine wrapper (it works also with ogre3d but irrlicht was much more lightweight in this case).
You need an analogic (->with 2 sticks) gamepad connected and installed on your pc.

Interesting that you've chosen a gamepad as your default controller on a PC game, not happy with mouse and keyboard controls?

I would suggest having the option of either a gamepad or a mouse and keyboard combo as i personally don't have a gamepad to use with my PC so won't be downloading your demo though i would have if it had mouse and keyboard support, i should think not alone in this...

Anwyay, well done on getting a project into a showable state!

The GUI is lovely.

It worked, after a fashion, with a Thrusmaster Dual Shock pad, although I had to disable the left analogue stick and use the left rocker pad to move, or else I ran constantly to the right.

Thanks for sharing.

I had to dust off my controller, but very nicely done. It has a very Final Fantasy type combat system (at least in feel), but I did like being able to chain my guy's attacks so all three were attacking at once.

The controls are smooth and shouldn't be too hard to pull off with a keyboard and mouse.

The gui was nice and clean (and looked pretty good for a programmer :P)

The video looks very nice indeed 8) but sadly I don't have a controller to try the demo :(

i wanted to try it out, but I don't have a controller either :(

lol, be a little careful with the music and GUI elements, they give far too much attention to the fact that you're trying to "emulate" a specific game!

but good work so far!

Hey! got to use a gamepad with Irrlicht? you and me have serious business to speak of XDDD

But i'm with the masses, you should give the option to use keyboard for input.
