Any other virus protection aside from norton?

Post by 3DModelerMan »

Is there a way to quickly delete a trojan horse virus completely?. My norton could'nt because it said access to file denied.

Oh dear. The chickens of leechery have come home to roost.

First, reboot and run Norton in safe mode.

If that doesn't do it, then have a look at HiJackThis which is pretty good at spotting and removing malware. It does require you to make some informed decisions about what to remove, which I realise is not what you're after, but since you got yourself into this hole...

a hole's a hole, whether you fall in it, get pushed in it, walk into a cave, or someone just drops something all around you so you're practically buried... :\

try what rogerborg's suggested above, or try out other antivirus programs like mcafee, AVG or Avast and see if they'll sort it out for you

hope everything turns out ok for ye'

a lot of times when you get a virus very very bad, the only real way to get rid of it is to reinstall windows, the key is protection from that original virus. I usually go with AVG since its pretty good and well..... uh FREE :D

Starts your computer with minimal resources so the virus/trojan (hopefully) wont start and Norton would be able to delete it.

And please, use: AVG Free, Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware 2008, A-Squared Free, and get a good firewall... one that's great (and free) is: Comodo Firewall Free

It's slow.. but it's fine I guess. When I had Norton I also used those programs I listed alongside it.. just in case. Now I'm using Kaspersky.

Real men don't use anti-virus tools.

Works equally poorly on all systems.
