Any other virus protection aside from norton?

I guess I was giving 3DModelerMan too much benefit of the doubt.

Anyways to be more constructive you can turn off system restore by logging in as the Administrator.

1. Click Start.
2. Right-click the My Computer icon, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Check "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives"
5. Click Apply.
6. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this.
7. Click OK.
8. Proceed with the virus removal.
9. Reboot the computer

Then to turn it back on

1. Click Start.
2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Uncheck "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives."
5. Click Apply, and then click OK.

man my PC (windows) being killed off by virus

while blue screen of death occurred on my laptop (also windows)

man 4 computers (including my friends') infected by the same adware. control panel gone, regedit disabled, run disabled, cmd gone.... and many more. now back to ubuntu.

Download Avast.
After installing click yes for console mode scanning.
Avast will scan your files before loading of Windows.
