FPS question

Post by dark chazz »

Hi.
Can anyone tell me the simplest way (that can also be done in old versions of Irrlicht) to add a player model (means the model that I will be playing as) , and a weapon model to the right side of the FPS camera?

Before answering, it would be helpful to know what you are trying to accomplish. It sounds like you want a first-person perspective... if that is the case, why would you want a player model?

I assume the weapon is from the first-person view. If that is the case, you should add the gun object to world at a fixed offset from the camera, then tweak that offset until the gun looks like where you want it.

Check out the docs/API for IGUIButton and you'll see setDrawBorder(bool) which might just draw the text instead of the button as well. Also you could use a transparent texture on the button which might prevent the button itself being drawn too.
