That's funny. I am logged out and I can download the file without any password...

Try again, I have explicitly set every file as public.

Let's recap the source code thingy
jmpep wrote:I have developed this as my final project for my degree in Computer Science in the Universidad Carlos III of Madrid, so I am unable to release the source code until I defend it in front of the committee (so as to avoid doubts about me being the developer).
People with developed reading abilities might have advantages  Are you sure that you did click the correct buttons on mediafire?

I WILL release the source code, and quite soon, don't worry about that. Surely there would be proofs of my authorship if I uploaded it now, and furthermore, chances are that I would not have any problems (I have a 234 page document describing the porting process). But I might have. And, honestly, after all the work I have done to get this working (this has been my first 3d graphics project, and the first time I work with Series 60, so I have had to learn quite a few things) I think I have the right to ask for a bit patience. In three weeks, you'll have it. Less, actually.

Concerning uploading the files somewhere else, here you have them:

http://ifile.it/vbefpjz/specialfx.sisx
http://ifile.it/42ohv0w/stdcpp.sis
http://ifile.it/2fqe9xn/stdioserver_s60_1_3_ss.sis
http://ifile.it/vsde2xf/pips_nokia_1_3_ss.sis

I hope it works fine now.[/list]

I configure my mobile so much time ago that I almost forgot how I did it. Ok, the solution is quite simple, just copy the media folder of Irrlicht to c:\irrlicht\media, where C is your phone main memory.

Thanks for trying it and pointing this out to me. In the final version I'll provide the resource files with the sisx file if possible (not sure about it, due to Symbian's data caging).

I copied the files to \media\, it now loads them and opens the window, but i'm faced with a white screen. The border of the text box seems to work, but there's no font, no 3d content etc... so maybe it doesn't work on the older N95s

I'll try again on my brother's 8GB N95 later :)

Thank you for your time,jmpep.
I installed all the runtimes as well as the actual demo.
Im afraid i couldnt get it to work with the Nokia N82.
When the command line appears,i enter "y" and press the down key(if i press down without "y",it exits). It gives me to choose the renderers(i tried them all, lol). No matter which i choose, the program quits.
I have the irrlicht\media folder with the files both in mem card and phones memory. The application itself is in the memory card.
I dont know why it doesnt work on a N82.

It looks in ..\..\media for the resources, and the app is installed to card:\bin\, so your media dir should be in the root of your card.

Actually not. It looks in ..\..\media after doing:

Code: Select all

chdir("e:/irrlicht/dummy/dummy");
So the data should be in e:/irrlicht/media :)

As you have said, the application is located in e:/bin (being e: the internal memory of the phone. z: if installed in the external memory) and without a chdir the data should be located outside any memory (due to the two .. in the path).

So the data has to be located in e:/irrlicht/memory, as I said :)

It is quite a dirty fix (to have a chdir) but I have to proof that the applications can run in the N95 with as few changes as possible.

Weird... Can you tell me where the application exits? The last message it says or something?

It works for me with the media in z:/media

Works great on the N95-2 I tested but doesn't work on my N95-1, maybe because I only have 56MB of RAM?

Looking forward to playing with the code when you release it, and hopefully getting the Symbian device into the core if you'll allow it :D

I heard someone ported Quake 1,2,3 to S60v3,but N95 doesnt run 2 and 3 due to less amount of free ram.The new N95s have more RAM,as well as N82 and E90.But for some strange reasons the new N96 and N85 lack the hardware from their predecessors,so they might not run the engine in OpenGL ES or run very slow.Thats kinda weird thing Nokia did,if you ask me.
Anyway, the console quits so fast,i can hardly read what it outputs before quitting, jmpep

Wow, that's quite strange...

Maybe... But I think it shouldn't be a problem, since the demo only needs 25 Mb under Windows... Well, actually I don't know, because I don't know if Windows takes into account the video memory as well as the main memory in the task manager.

Of course! That would make me quite happy, indeed :D

Yeah! Olli Hinkka was the man :D And the problem was the RAM, as you say :)

I totally agree...
