[Help Wanted: Blender Modeller] Crystal Bond

Post by GlitchGuy2 »

~-Crystal Bond-~
Crystal Bond is a 3D RPG currently in the works. It is not a human medieval RPG however, it's a futuristic animalistic game to be written in Dev-C++ and Irrlicht. Crystal Bond is NOT exactly a kid's game, mainly it's one of those games featuring animals in war and whatnot. VIOLENCE.

Currently the game is in writing and storyboarding stages, the basic story overview is being written by me, and I'm ALSO doing the programming.

Now here's where I need help. I can't model living creatures for the life of me, period. I've tried and all I can do are inanimate objects. Note that I'm using Anim8or for objects and Blender for characters. Unless a better format is found, I will use .3DS files for the game. If you can model something like this anthro porcupine:

Then you may be able to help me. To register for this project, post saying you want in. THIS PROJECT IS FREEWARE AND I CANNOT PAY YOU!!!

Thank you for spending time to read this.

If I may give you a tip.
Forget about Dev-C++. There are other IDEs that are more modern and better supported.
For example Code::Blocks or Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Express.

About the project:
Well you didn't say that much about it. If you want to have people to join you, you should give more detailed information.
Software documentation is like sex. If it's good you want more. If it's bad it's better than nothing.

Since this call for help is rather for modeller/painter I'll move it to the graphics forum.

mk1, your a little mean :D

@op sounds like an interesting project. might want to start a little slower than that and try and get something working on your own before you call for help but it does sound cool.

At least he`s trying and is helpful, which is a good thing, don`t ya think? Just keep practising, man! :wink:

@GlitchGuy2: Haha! Anim8or is a very useful, lightweight, portable and easy-to- use program. I still sometimes use it for some simple static shapes, for character creation Max 9 does the job. I don`t use Blender. Dislike it, because I hadn`t used to it maybe. Here`s one of my last models made in Anim8tor (made in an hour the last year):

And here`re two images made on paper- the first one is for the "Fan Art" section of Victoria Frances ( http://www.victoriafrances.es ) :

Unfortunately currently I`m full-time-busy and have no time for my project too. :?

PS: I think lostclimategames`s right in some way.

@ShadowSlair
I admit Anim8or has an amazing charge and is incredibly easy to use, however one reason I can't use it is because it lacks the ability to export .3DS animated, or .X scripts don't exist that are animated/animatable. I can't use it because of other reasons too, like for lip sync and eye movement as it's above my Anim8or knowledge, trust me, I'm not too big with Blander myself, but I have a bit of a book on it.

you could make an obj model with anim8or, then convert it with milkshape(trial version), and then animate it with CharacterFX(free).

@grumpymonkey
Or you can use anim8or to model and animate, and export to .ms3d it with ani2pov.

GlitchGuy2, you need a bloody version of Sonic the Edgehog?

Image

Can you give us more description on the creatures you need?

shadowslair, you seem to be very good in drawing! Keep it up!
mk.1 you still have a lot of progress to make, but you at least proposed something.

Grabbing concept art

Front, a quick draw about what the front looks like

And side

Not hedgehog, porcupine (I guess, I dunno the difference) which follows into a war-like scene. One guy I communicated with but he stopped responding after his first email. So the position's still open.
