I use Code::Blocks and that console window only comes when your running it inside Code::Blocks for me, when i release it there isn't any console windows anymore...
But then again it might be just me
C++ is not the Magdalena...it takes patience...shes like the well aged prostitute, it takes years to learn her tricks! she is cruel...laughs at you when you are naked...
Life of a programmer == Const abuse
with Code::Blocks if you use the Irrlicht sample template it will create a Debug and Release version, and one the differences is Console App and GUI App. with VC++ you change it the same way, but will need to add in that #pragma comment (which i think irrlicht 1.5+ already has it) so you dont need to use WinAPI
