[HELP WANTED] Syndicate Invasion (online game)

Post by Jookia »

I'm making an online game with Irrlicht, it's basically going to be a roleplay game. What I'm lacking is a 3d modeler.

I need somebody who can model map parts and somebody who can make low-poly human models.

It's inspired by the BYOND game SS13, but that's gone to crap and lags like hell.

How about you read the requirement for posting a thread in this section then comply? You got no details, no showcase, no anything, but a few vague terms. Do something, showcase it, THEN ask.

Syndicate Invasion is a multiplayer role play game based around the original SS13 design but made in c++ and more optimized.

SS13 design below

SS13 stands for Space Station which itself was originally an experiment to make a cellular air system in which players can role play in under dangerous environments, such as meteors hitting the ship, causing air to flow out of the ship and the crew (players) needing to use emergency gas masks and oxygen tanks. On top of that, it adds reactions like plasma and fire. Also sleeping gas. Over time it's had many changes, including the original author and the source code being decompiled and released into the open source environment without the authors permission. After that, there is now a main flavor of the game being hosted and worked on by the goons at Something Awful.

The engine that the game runs on was the simple 2D game engine, BYOND (build your own net dream) which was entirely unsuitable, as over time it's features have been built up on top of including but not limited to genetics, medicine and objects moving due to airflow. This comes to the annoying fact that it's laggy. Most of the time it's so laggy that you have to hold in the directional button to move in the right direction. With the addition of explosions, causing MASSIVE calculations, this is an outright problem of the engine.

So, I'm going to be remaking it in 3D similar to Pokémon Pearl as pictured above. With better networking, less lag and nicer graphics, and also a tutorial. Forgot to note that, as you see the first screenshot, you get dropped in to the game with no tutorial. Guess how you put clothes on in SS13? You have to click a whole lot of junk, most of the time you press something too quick before the server does it and you cancel out the action.

It's really fun, but unfortunately the current version has no tutorial, griefers and lag.

I have to learn to model thanks to this project.
