Hey rrg so far im loving it :)

some notes so far (i unlocked about 15 levels in a short time, so its not complete report back yet).

Jewel/Gem Collision Size : When collecting one of the gems , sometimes your marble will pass right through the gem (the polys visibly intersect) yet you dont get the gem. The size of the collision box for the gem should be a bit bigger so you dont feel cheated when being daring and crazy.

The camera system : I actually liked the camera STYLE, it makes the game a little more challenging by making the camera only rotate 90 degrees at a time. I like that, BUT what i found frsutrating is when the camera is above the floor, and the marble is below it (ie, you cant see the marble). This means i end up cycling the camera to try find the marble, and i am trying to balance the marble say, on a thin ledge, and what happens is the direction im balancing changes with each camera change (obviously).

Perhaps there is some way to rather make the camera change view automatically if there is something large (like a whole ground) in front of your view.

In game information : A surprising lack of information in game, makes certain things come across as completely random, or that i got stuck. For example, the one level had a gap to "jump" it would seem, and some boxes lying around. So i used some logic and pushed the boxes in the way, and kinda bounced across the gap on the boxes. I had no idea if i was doing it wrng but it worked so its fine, though a lot of people might not try something so arbitrary.

The level thats like a pinball table (near level 12 or something) is a cool level, but again, seeing the silver rail i was excited to jump up and ride that rail to get the gems, the problem being you probably need a pinball marble (only finding that out by going into the menu , which is no good for gameplay while investigating the menus), the problem was i couldnt get onto the rail (effectivley, i couldnt finish the level cos i was missing 4 gems) so i felt like awe, what a waste. So i spent 5 minutes trying to ramp up onto the rail, wasting time etc..

Perhaps some kind of popup message or, sidebar message at those locations (there are little pictures i saw those) but something to at least explain a new mechanic as one shows up in the game.

Overall, this is a great project and you can be really proud. I enjoyed it a lot, and ill keep playing and let you know if i spot anything else,
and dont forget, polish polish polish polish. You can never polish things enough.

Keep it up

Nice game :)
It'll only take a minute or two to debug this code...

thanks you all for all the comments.

FuzzYspo0N thanks for the in depth notes about my game. I will take them and try to add them to my game. While fix some issues about people not being able to run my game i add a help/control menu to my game, which was based off your suggestions. This menu tells the user what the icons mean in the game when you come across it and also the controls for the game. Hopefully this will help with the in game information.

thanks

Damn ... I don't think my project "Marbles2 - the race" will look that good. I'll test your game when I find some time. But I think I'll have to continue on my game (well ... actually start the real game out of the demo game in my IrrODE wrapper ;) ), no matter how many that-good-looking other marbles there are.

Well ... as I don't have an iPhone I didn't search for games ... but this could be a reason to get an iPod touch ;).

One of the main reasons why I do marble-games is that I don't want to start either a FPS or a RPG, because in this forum most of the posts refer to a FPS or RPG. I think I'll do my game no matter how good other marbles are, but your game is looking great ... and as I am not an artist this is one of the "problems" I have (as you can see at the screenshots of my first "marbles" game on http://dustbin-online.de/marbles.php ;) ).

lol yea, but either way. making games at this stage should be about the games you want to make, for your sake not others. im glad you will stick with it.

@rrg, sorry for the random chatter in here ;) keep us updated on the progress
