Ps3 vs 360 exclusives
Soz to firesoul453 but i really want to say this and i know u dont care, here goes anyway:
Some/most of u ppl who hav posted are complaining bout the price tag for xbox live, there is a price beacuse microsoft are always improving xbox live with content, for example gettin downloadable content on the xbox marketplace before the playstation network, there are exclusive interviews with developers an example of this is inside xbox or sentuamessage, also microsoft recently added 1 vs 100 in the market place and i can tell u by my experience that this is very fun with friends and u can also win prizes such tvs, games, MS points etc. Microsoft r also releasing new content where the gamer can start to use his/her avator to mingle with other xbox users. Also microsoft r goin to add facebook and twitter into the marketplace.
Most of wat u ppl say i would agree a few years bak cause bak then all u got was a gd connection to playin online but i very much disgree now.

Well you're looking at him. I own neither, but have played and analyzed both.bitplane wrote:This is a religious topic, the only unbiased opinions will come from people who don't own either console.
Yeah they may. But all I am saying is that developers are finally realizing their mistakes in ignoring the PS3 and admitting that they just don't have the talent yet. Now, most companies are hiring the talent needed to develop for the PS3.strong99 wrote:Not sure about that, microsoft says the same over the xbox.
On the note of PS3 Online, it is a direct competitor to XBox Live, unlike how it was for the PS2. On the PS2 develoeprs had no unified process with which to integrate online gameplay.
You're missing the point. The Blu-ray directly contributes to the gaming experience that is possible. The dual-layer DVD that the XBox 360 supports can only hold 9 GB while the dual-layer Blu-ray that the PS3 supports 50 GB. That's a 555% increase in the amount of space that a game can use. This means more data, possibly larger games, more uncompressed or lossless compressed data (instead of lossy), etc.Sylence wrote:If you don't have any BluRays or if you don't have a TV that is big enough to notice a difference between DVD and BluRay (say less than 20 inch) you don't need a PS3.
As I have said before, the potential is on the side of the PS3 for exclusives. Cross-platform games will probably see no difference.

I totally agree with this, i hav been sayin this since the PS3 came outHalifax wrote:The Blu-ray directly contributes to the gaming experience that is possible. But once the devlopers start to use the full power of the blu ray then that is wen PS3 will own the market and wen this day comes i will be ready
I would have to say that the X360 proves that there's not a huge necessity for 50GB worth of data.. so for now it's not an issue but it certainly gives developers the ability to exploit that extra space...
I heard that Kojima was being an idiot with MGS4 and was just using all the audio as completely uncompressed files... just because he thought that would be worth it and the best quality was paramount... Which is total rubbish as it's just not necessary... an incredibly small fraction of the audience would notice any difference between the uncompressed files and well compressed files.

that does sound quite idiotic.JP wrote:I heard that Kojima was being an idiot with MGS4 and was just using all the audio as completely uncompressed files... just because he thought that would be worth it and the best quality was paramount... Honestly i really cant w8 for a game that uses all of the 50 GB, just imagine somethin like call of duty with crap loads more levels, better graphics, and not to mention features that devlopers would normally not add cause they take up too much memory. A man can dream...
Have you seen any PC game that needs more than 25GB? No? Me neither.Ravi08 wrote:Honestly i really cant w8 for a game that uses all of the 50 GB, just imagine somethin like call of duty with crap loads more levels, better graphics, and not to mention features that devlopers would normally not add cause they take up too much memory. The possibility to develop games that need 50GB of space for the data exists for a long time. But it was never used.
Now it's up to you to image why.
Oh and please don't say "Most PCs only have DVD drivers so you can just put 9GB into it" because that would be total nonsense. There are games that need 25GB of disk space (Age of Conan for example) they just come on more than one DVD. And you can always compress the data on the DVD and let the installer uncompress them.
Software documentation is like sex. If it's good you want more. If it's bad it's better than nothing.
u have risen gd points, firstly let me just say we were discussing PS3 and 360 NOT PC and secondly u dont install games on consoles like PC.Sylence wrote:Have you seen any PC game that needs more than 25GB? Yes of course.
But you mentioned the possibility to have a game with 50GB of data.
The PC has this possibilty for a long time. So I'd be suprised if there will be a PS3 game that uses the full 50GB.
Yes I know that most of the games on the PS3 make use of them. But they just duplicate the data so that the load times can be reduced.
The problem is that 50GB is really much. Having 50GB of data would increase the development costs a lot.

Well Sacred 2 uses 12 gb...
But aren't we going for produceral? Using shaders for realtime or onload creation (Like that 50 KB game, forgot name)? Or even better, download everything you need from the internet without storing them (Quake Live).
I have an console because its "plug an play" just insert CD and play

Your the first person EVER to be able to tell me a good game for the 360 that is exclusive besides Halo series and Gear of war 2.Ravi08 wrote:Hi, on the 360 there is Mass Effect which is very gd, the second one comin l8er this year.
Crackdown which is also very gd and fun to play and second one comin "l8" next year.
Im not 100% sure bout this but i think the xbox marketplace will get the new gta expansion before playstation network.
Again im not 100% sure bout this but the new splinter cell game is either comin on 360 only or comin out on 360 before PS3.
I know u already know bout Halo but there is an expasion comin l8er this year called Halo:ODST and in the comin years a new game called Halo:Reach.
360 also has the great left for dead, the second one comin l8er this year.
Thats all i can think of at the moment, hope it helps.
Thanks!
I don't doubt that the 360 has better online, but it doesn't sound like its worth all that money. Ps3 has a browser so its got twitter and facebook (I don't use either)Ravi08 wrote:Soz to firesoul453 but i really want to say this and i know u dont care, here goes anyway:

Anyway so what if they don't usually use 25-50gb on pc? Whats that got to do with consoles? I love being able to just put in one disk and play.
Also so what if blu ray cost more. The games go down just as low as 360 games. (moves are like $10 more than DVD version but you can play the DVD version too if you prefer)
Thanks to everyone I am glad to get both point of views!
His reasoning may be rubbish, but most PS3 exclusive developers are throwing uncompressed audio data onto the Blu-ray. Guerilla Games cited it as a major positive because they spent less time decompressing and could spend more time pulling data, doing more advanced mixing in 7.1 surround sound, and then throwing it out to the user's configuration. Insomniac Games uses a similar approach as well.JP wrote:I heard that Kojima was being an idiot with MGS4 and was just using all the audio as completely uncompressed files... just because he thought that would be worth it and the best quality was paramount... But yes, you are correct, the XBox 360 has proved that it is not a necessity thus far.

The point is that there will be no game for the PS3 that will use the 50GB on a BluRay.firesoul453 wrote:Anyway so what if they don't usually use 25-50gb on pc? Whats that got to do with consoles? I love being able to just put in one disk and play.
So it is nonsense to compare the 9GB of an XBox DVD with the 50GB of a PS3 BluRay.
