dmf is supported, look here: http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/feature ... tedformats
I didn't see it in the list so I recommend Freeworld3D
The only "semi-pro" inexpensive (like 30$) editor I found, anyhow I like it

Thanks for your guide but it is difficult to apply all this direction. I think that we are difficult to practice them and turn them into yoursJPulham wrote:I recomend DeleD, Maplet and Visual Editor.

DeleD is good becouse its free, powerful and supported by irrlicht.
Maplet is good for putting together levels quickly and can export to B3D files, which DeleD imports.
Visual Editor is an Editor FOR irrlicht. This lets you take meshes from any supported program and add particles, animation, Sound etc.

Giles, for lightmaps, importing 3ds, ASE, obj, etc created in any 3d app. Giles exports to My3d (supported by Irrlicht):

Last time I used Rhino it was strictly nurbs based which is useless unless you go back in time a few years. Nurbs won't work with a game engine AT ALL. They can't be UV unwrapped so you cannot texture them with anything other than procedurals. If you are going to use Rhino I strongly suggest you convert all your meshes to polygons. Rhino is probably a very poor choice of programs for Irrlicht. Blender is free and basically a clone of Maya. Also I really wouldn't use a modeling program to be doing level editing. You do have the option of doing so but a nice editor that has bsp support is going to make your life much easier.wildrj wrote:one that hasnt been metioned was rhino3d i just got it and its fun to use but it is way diffrent then what everyone is used to check it out

Is it possible to use the UT3 level editor? That would be super nice because it's open source and the UDK just came out.
Will lights in deled3d transfer into irrlicht or will I need to create lights in Irrlicht?
I'm using L3DT to create my heightmaps, but when I try to load them in irrlicht, they look horrible:
You can see that the terrain looks like stairs.. why?
EDIT: fixed! I was exporting it as 8 bit-bitmap, now that I changed to 24 bit it works fine.

irrRenderer 1.0
Height2Normal v. 2.1 - convert height maps to normal maps
Step back! I have a void pointer, and I'm not afraid to use it!

What are the cons of using irrEdit. It seems to me the best way to go would be to make b3d files with Blender and then load them up in irrEdit and make a scene.
